Well, Summer is almost here, which means the heat is rolling in as we speak. Humidity and the summer heat can be a difficult pair to hold your own against, but over the years I have discovered some wonderful products that have helped me beat the heat time and time again.  Here is a list of my top 5 favorite summer beauty products:

1. Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Oil Control Lotion—This face lotion features tea tree oil and chamomile for a really delicate product that is sweet to my sensitive skin but also moisturizes without all the greasy oils and what not. The natural scent is great too! Found at natural food stores.

2. Rob’s Day on the Boat Demi-Matte Tousling Spray—if you crave that beach wave, this is your product. This is my go-to product on the days that the humidity is just too much for my hair to deal with. Spray a bit on after getting out of the shower and you’ll have beach waves within the hour! Found online at www.robssalon.com or in the salon in the Drayton Towers in Downtown Savannah.

3. Essie Nail Polish in Maximillian Strasse-her—This soft, muted blue-gray pastel nail color is great against a tan, and easily worn with anything. Not too crazy, not too classic. Found at local drugstore.

4. Savannah Bee Company Beeswax Hand and Nail Salve— This lovely product will change your nails and those dry cracked heels forever. Made from local beeswax, this salve is perfect for a quick application to any dry part of your body. The soothing and conditioning oils have really worked wonders for my feet!  And I’m even more excited that Red Clover Boutique is offering this Savannah Bee product, along with a few other product favorites.

5. Body/face scrub—Homemade….yes, I make this one at home and you can too!  Mix brown sugar (or sea salt) with a few spoon fulls of honey, and a bit of lemon. The consistency should be thick enough to use as a mask, but not quite a solid. After clearing all makeup and other products off your face or body, apply some of the scrub to your face or the rest of your body and let it sit for as long as you’d like. I usually wait 10 minutes and then rinse! The honey and lemon allow your face to feel bright and clear, while the sea salt/brown sugar acts as a scrub to remove excess skin and clean your pores. I use this 2 times a week.
